Porcelain Utilitarian Objects

It was while I was living in Canada in 2001 that I learnt to appreciate hand crafted utilitarian ceramic objects. I began to understand how the daily ritual of pouring from a handmade teapot and drinking from a thrown and altered cup enriched the dining experience.
I particularly enjoy making objects that can be used in the home. Clay has a wonderful knack of reflecting the maker and the environment it is made in.
I gravitate to objects that provide individual recognisability, especially those essential objects that are instrumental to our daily rituals. A certain discipline is required to solve the challenges presented in making an object functional.Above all I love the quiet place in my head that making usable objects sweeps me away to.
